"Shut Up" is a hard hitting, modern sounding, trap hip-hop track. With an interesting vocal sample ringing throughout the opening, the build-up begins to feel electrifying. Many early listeners have said the beat production reminds them of “Super Gremlin” by Kodak Black. The chorus comes in significantly powerful and creates a “mean” image in the listeners head. Jaxx also uses his ad-libs very sparingly throughout this track, which has not been a staple of his music. This creates intense feels with the selective vocal adds with impressive reverberation implementing a very clean track. In this song, Jaxx describes a situation that he experienced with a female. Although not the cleanest lyrics, Jaxx somehow still finds a way to bring real life experiences directly to the listeners mind. IN the second verse you will hear Philadelphia’s own, Youmidaswell. Adding on to Jaxx’s lyrical conception, Youmidaswell re-explains the point Jaxx demonstrated earlier on in this track in a different, more melodic, style of rap. With the aggression and lyrical smarts shown throughout the track, the two combined to create an exciting and powerful trap banger.
